A student was punished in Singapore due to his webcast
According to the Singapore newspaper Lianhe Zaobao, a student in Raffles Junior High School was punished because he used palm size video camera taping his teacher abuse a student in the class and posted the video on the Internet. Instead that the teacher was questioned and punished due to her behavior, the student was deciplined and made an apology to the school. His parents had made same apology to the school. What the rule is! Compact video cameras are becoming weapons for people to record social problems and injustice, like Rodny King case. If LA police would had punished the videotaper instead policemen, what would the consequences be? In my opinion, anyone who has a video camera sould have right to tape anything they want to tape and post them on any medieum they can post. Digital technology brings a digital democratic culture to us. Everyone is equal in publishing and accessing information. I don't know what the Singapore school would teach their students about democracy and human rights.

Image Frame Rate
This thought just came to my mind this morning when I was in half sleep and half waking up. I thought about the One Thirds rule in classic image composition with the frame rate 4:3. Some called it a Golden Rule. Why and when people started to adopt this rate into visual aesthetics? Is it related to the Cross division rate or human body rate? In Chinese painting, the frame rate is very flexible and depends on the contents in the painting, which usually relate to the natural scence. What and how we can present our thinking by using a virtual unlimited presentation space in our digital presentation monitor system will be a new topic for me to think about in the future.

Iranian twin sisters died
I have followed up the news about Iranian sisters' brain seperation surgery. I thought it was a most important surgery in the history. i don't really know about the complexity of the surgery, but I can imagine the difficulty. Like fixing a camera, when you open it you may face a unpredictable mechanical or electronic links which you may not fix. You may not put them back to let them run as before. The camera may have to be threwed away. I had this experience when I tried to fix my Olympus XA2. But you may find another same malfunctioning camera for reference or part supplier. But you can never have a human being as your reference and part supplier for your experiment. Human being is most expensive creation and can never be restored or replaced if s/he was damaged or hurted. The futrue is mostly unknown. tha's why the world needs us to research and exporlation. But we have to always take human life as our first concern when we start experimenting.

First Blog
2 years ago, i went back to asia. i brought my digital camera with me and promised my coworkers and students that i will post images i take in my trip and give a daily update of what i am doing and who i am meeting. i traveled to japan, singapore malaysia. i was updating my diary almost everyday if i can access internet. untill i went to shanghai, i stopped my online diary, because i can't access my website (i guess chinese governement blocks the tripod.com). when i came back to the states, everyone asked me if i was doing ok in china, because they couldn't follow my trip there, they thought i might have some trouble in china. several weeks later, i got an email from san francisco who i don't know. she said she found my travel diary from internet searching and recommended me to look at other "blog". that was my first know the word "blog". since then, i haven't do anything online, especially message publication. now i think is a good time to start blog which i did 2 years ago by accident. i will post my thoughts and opinions about images which is my research and experiment interest. anyone who is interested in this topic is welcomed to join my blo0g discussions. i will write more later.
